Calcium d-glucarate can help prevent certain types of cancer and help lower cholesterol. It's the calcium salt of d-glucarate, a natural substance found in fruits and vegetables such as apples, grapefruits, broccoli and alfalfa sprouts.
Glucuronidation is a chemical process that binds glucuronic acid to various toxins, including carcinogens. Afterwards, the bound complex can be easily removed from the body. This process is blocked by an enzyme called glucuronidase, which is, in turn, blocked by d-glucarate. Normally, d-glucarate does this for an hour or so. Making it into a Calcium salt extends its action to 5 hours. This means the supplement helps the body remove carcinogens easier, faster and longer.

In one experiment, rats given anthracene (a carcinogen) normally develop breast cancer quite quickly.
